Description
The story introduces us to Sally Diamond, a woman who lives on the periphery of her small Irish village. Sally is “different”—she takes things literally, avoids social contact, and is deeply suspicious of the world. When her father dies, she follows his offhand instructions to “put him out with the rubbish” and attempts to incinerate his body. The resulting media firestorm thrusts Sally into a spotlight she is entirely unequipped for. As the police and public scrutinize her, a sinister voice from a past she cannot remember begins to reach out. The novel unravels a harrowing history of abduction and trauma, revealing why Sally was hidden away and who is watching her from the other side of the world.
