Description
The story shifts between 1940s Tehran and modern-day America. We meet Elizabeth, the matriarch who stayed in Iran despite the 1979 revolution, and her granddaughter Niaz, who rebels against the Islamic regime. Meanwhile, in America, Elizabeth’s daughters Shirin and Seema (and Seema’s daughter Bita) navigate “Tehrangeles”—struggling to reconcile their wealthy Iranian heritage with the anonymity of immigrant life. When a family vacation in Aspen results in Shirin’s arrest, the cracks in their “perfect” family veneer finally burst, forcing them to confront long-held secrets and the truth about their legendary ancestor, the “Great Warrior.”
